While he states that "the work is a tool to unravel the mysteries of the self and the world," what is presented is not a single "solution" to simplify the world as he says, but what he himself refers to as a "code" or "black box.
It suggests a more complex and hierarchical world, and the viewer is synchronized to a bizarre reality.
While photography is the axis of his work, his output is diverse, including installations and three-dimensional works.
He is also the leader and organizer of GC Magazine, a collective of young artists in their early 20s, and has held exhibitions and edited/published a monthly magazine in and around Tokyo.
Hayate Ito lives and works in Tokyo, Japan.

「作品は自己と世界を謎解くツールである」とする一方で提示されていくのは、その言葉通りの世界を単純化するためのひとつの「解」ではない。
自身が「暗号」や「ブラックボックス」と言及するそれは、さらに複雑で階層化された世界を示唆し、観るものは奇怪な現実へと同期していく。
写真を制作の軸としながら、そのアウトプットはインスタレーションや立体作品など多岐にわたる。
また20代前半の若⼿アーティストのコレクティブGC Magazineのリーダーを務めており、東京を中⼼に展覧会の開催や⽉刊誌の編集/発⾏を⾏っている。
