Mayumi Inoue is a Japanese artist based in Paris.
A series of “Cancer and Hair” is a project shooting photos of hair lost due to cancer treatment.
It is a proof of the cancer patients’ strong determination to live and a symbol of life.
She attempts to prove their existence through her work.
The series also uses hair of trichotillomania patients including herself, who have an irresistible urge to pull out their own hair.
