icedland
by Harumi Shimizu

In Iceland, where volcano erupts and glacier flocks, and the earth continues being still split, we can feel dynamic workings of natural phenomena . Though it is fuller of green than neighboring Greenland, it was named "iceland", reverse meaning to the fact, to avoid aggression from the outside.
This series is based on the characteristic of the photograph which let a scene before our eyes freeze up in a moment.
I let the output photos of untouched nature in present Iceland freeze and rephotographed them.
And I put not only the memories of the land but also the personal memories by containing some plants and stones which I picked up at each photography places together.
