Statement by Yoshihiro Ikka

"When I was little, I received a picture book.
My parents used to read it to me every night.
In picture books illustrations show important scenes to help tell the story.
Now as a grown-up, I live through stories in the real world everyday,not just when I pick up my picture book.
For me, photographs are illustrations for picture books.
By making picture books of real stories, I better understand and feel this world."
