the Miniature Garden
by Mina Daimon
These photographs are my works of the bento that I prepared for my husband during the four years beginning in 2011.
Having studied landscape architecture when I was a student, the "food landscape" that I developed within the small frame of the same bento box was like creating miniature gardens for brief moments.
Bento box comes with a lid. Thinking of the delight and the surprise when the lid is removed, I prepared my daily "miniature garden" day after day. That was my small gift to my husband each day. I suppose that each one of these photographs could enable the viewers to see, through the fence, as it were, the cultural and historical background, as well as the seasons, limited though they may be.
I hope that the viewers could also perceive the feeling of tenderness, embodied by the daily routine, which has resulted from continuous day-to-day efforts.
