Statement by Shigeo Goto

All photographs shown here were taken on a variety of occasions in my everyday life such as the time with my friends and a lover whom I live with, or while on the trip and the opening party of the exhibition. With Smudge Tool in Photoshop, photographic images were partly blown up and were combined with multiple components and layers to be converted into another images. I consider Smudge as some kind of signature written on an image which frees photographs from an illusion that they should be tied with specific moments. With this, photographs start to transform themselves like natural life forms into something else. I let photographs with these signatures go somewhere else, meaning to let myself go with them.
